We're Competing...Together

The UN climate talks are taking place in Tianjin, China right now. And the news we're getting from folks there—if you can really call it 'news'—is that things are going...sloooowwwwwllly.

So that is precisely what the Great Power Race is all about. We're trying to show governments and businesses that we have no time to waste in creating clean energy and climate solutions. In fact, we're not waiting a moment longer ourselves—we're racing ahead and implementing the solutions we can on our campuses and in our communities. And as we do, we're sending a message that our countries business and govenments need to join in.

To relay that message to the UN climate talk in China some of the Great Power Race team who are there decided to hold a little race of their own outside. How awesome is this!

Who going to win?!

Well, the best part of the Great Power Race is that even though we're competing—'cause hey, it's fun—we're really all in it together (though yes, there will be prizes awarded to the campuses who implement the most, and most creative solutions projects on their campus between now and 12 November). As we often like to say, "Our parents raced for the moon, our generation will race for the planet." This is not just about individual countries. We want to improve our countries, and we also want to rescue our world from climate catastrophe. We all stand to benefit from a race towards clean energy.

So as you are all getting started with solutions projects on your own capuses, also take some time to check out what other teams in other countries are up to. Maybe you'll even be inspired to get in touch, talk to one another, and maybe even...work together!
